Searching well is half the savings. Enter your exact city, pickup and return dates and times, and the location type you want, then compare every major company in one set of results. The cleaner your inputs, the more comparable the results, and the easier it is to spot the genuine low rate rather than a teaser.
Enter the details that change the price
Four inputs move rental pricing the most: the pickup location (airport versus neighborhood), the exact dates and times, the length of the rental, and the drivers. Small changes matter. A pickup an hour later can cross into a cheaper day rate; a slightly longer rental can unlock a weekly rate that is cheaper in total than fewer days. Enter your real plan first, then experiment with nearby times and locations to see where the price breaks fall.

Reading the results
Sort by the all-in total, not the base rate, and check that each result is the car class you actually want. Then book a refundable rate so you can keep searching and rebook if a better price appears. The goal of a search is not to book the first acceptable number; it is to establish the real market for your trip and then hold the best refundable rate while you watch it.
